About Round Rock
Round Rock was founded in 1851, along Brushy Creek, where a round rock marked a low spot for wagons, horses and cattle to cross. The postmaster at the time originally called this new town Bushy Creek, but the name was later changed to Round Rock, for this marked low crossing. The area has grown a lot since those early days, with a population now exceeding 100,000. The Austin area is currently experiencing even more growth, with more than 20,000 new residents coming to Round Rock alone in the last 6 years. Round Rock is expected to continue growing, and has become one of the safest, affordable, and fun cities to live in!
