About Liberty Hill

Liberty Hill was first settled in the 1840s. The first post office opened three miles west of the present-day town. The town had to move three times in 1882, to keep up with the stage-coach stops and the moving of the post office. Liberty Hill experienced a surprising amount of growth post Civil War which lead to the citizens requesting a college for their citizens, and in 1885, after the State Legislature granted the charter, Liberty Hill had their college. Even with this college and growth Liberty Hill never broke 500 residents until the 1990s, and now has almost quadruple that number with a little over 1,900 residents.
