About Leander
Established in 1882, Leander was originally called Bagdad. The city was first settled in 1845 by people who received land grants for fighting in the Texas Revolution. The town later became a stopping point between Lampasas and Austin. Lander has come a long way from its origins as a stopping point, it is currently developing into one of the best cities in Williamson and Travis County. With a new railway system that only takes 25 minutes to get from Leander to Downtown Austin, and a long-term water supply now set up, the city is poised to continue growing.
