About Hutto
Hutto was created in 1876 when the International-Great Northern Railroad (the first railroad in Williamson County) reached the site of Hutto. They purchased five acres of land for the Hutto Station from a rancher named James Emory Hutto. From here the town of Hutto started to really develop, and by 1884 had 200 people living there. The population of this small town stayed under a thousand for the rest of the 19th and 20th centuries, it wasn’t 2000 when they finally broke a population over 1,000. Currently, the city has a population of over 25,000 and is continuing to experience growth like the rest of the Austin MSA.
